Remember This.

I was a bit of a tyrant today.

I’d like to blame it on the fact that I cannot even think clearly because my head feels like it going to explode. But that really isn’t a good enough reason to snap at the girls every two minutes simply because they couldn’t stop the continual shrieks of laughter.

Needless to say they were in bed before 7:30pm tonight. But before they were shuffled off, there were two conversations that still have me smiling and I just have to make sure to document.

Addie was sitting on the sofa, looked to her left and then to her right as she said, “Did you know that the red-eyed tree frog could look at our TV with one eye and he could see the bookshelf over there (in the back of our living room.) with his other eye! At the same time! Ha…that would be cool wouldn’t it?” And then she sat and did this funny little thing with her head and eyes and tried to see both directions.

Then at dinner Em was eating her tomato soup and she said, “Soup is weird. It is like a liquid, but it is kind of like a solid, too.” Addie pipes up with, “Yeah! It is a ‘lilid!”  And Emma, laughing so hard she could barely get her sentence out, comes back with “No, no! Addie it is a ‘soquid.’  Soup is a soquid!” Which sent them off into fresh new peals of laughter.

Silly, silly monkeys. Makes me so very happy to have a fresh start tomorrow. Head cold or no, I need to make darn sure I don’t end up disappointed in how I treated them at the end of the day again.

And I don’t even want to think how much $$ I owe the Lenten jar today. I think my whole week’s allowance goes straight to the jar.

Snapshot Sunday ~ Bushels of Beauties.

Look what we have waiting in our driveway all ready to be happily transplanted into a new garden! I won these lovelies and a gift certificate to Armstrong Nursery last night at SEF-apalooza (fundraiser for our educational fund). I wish I had a photo of Addie’s face when she saw them waiting for her this morning.

Unfortunately I’ve been kinda sofa-bound most of today with an insane head cold that was only made worse by NyQuil last night. I’m hoping to feel better and find some spots to get these planted before we leave on Thursday. Just reminding myself to breathe. It will all get done.

Crafty Tuesday

Well, as I promised last week, we actually completed some crafts over the past week. First of all, while we were out scouring for ideas to steal, er…I mean while we were shopping…we found these cute eggs at Pottery Barn. Now, while they are cute and all – they are still $20 and I just didn’t like them that much.

However, I did like these cute (even cuter because they are colored!) eggs from Hobby Lobby to the tune of $4 on sale.

Add a little Eva magic (and a font I like even better than the PB one!) and we have our own Easter egg set.

I am now trying to figure out how to display them. I cut apart the egg carton they came in, but it is a little too wobbly. Still working out that one.

And, Birdie #2 and I finally got to try the Boy-ville wooden toys. They are pretty stinkin’ cute. This was Jamie’s first attempt at painting a set of the boys.

I’m telling you…it is complete therapy to sit and paint for an hour. It is my painting zen time.

I had to add a Harry Potter and a Luke Skywalker for a few of the little boys on my list…oops, Luke must’ve walked away, he didn’t make it into this shot.

And of course, the parade of girls waiting to be boxed up. We also added a Tinkerbelle into the lineup. I’m working on some sort of tulle-like wings for her back.

Up next…after the vacation of course, is planning a Harry Potter party for Em. She has decided that is what she really wants for her NINTH birthday. Aye. She also wants to invite some of her friends, who are boys.

We’ll see what Daddy has to say about that one…

Sunday Snapshot ~ Stripes

You might think that I had to stage this photo, but no. I was walking home from church behind them this morning and this was the shot I was treated to. I only asked them to just stop moving for a second so I could capture their sisterly love.

I hope they always have each other’s hands to hold when they need it most.

Crafty Tuesday

Well, I spent the day crafting with Birdie #2…and we have some fun stuff but…it didn’t get done in time for today’s CT. So I guess you’ll just have to wait until next week.

Three of the projects we accomplished today are for upcoming birthdays, though. It feels good to be ahead of the game for a change. Especially since we are going to be gone for an entire week in a mere two weeks.

OH?! Didn’t I mention where we are going? Well, see for yourself…

EEEEEEEeeeeee!!!

Yes, we are taking a Disney cruise! Add it to the list of perks at Daddy’s Disney job – we get to go be the guinea pigs for the one of the first sailings. We are headed to St. Maarten, St. Thomas and Castaway Cay. I have been trying not to get too excited about it because it seemed so far off and we have SO MUCH TO DO before we go. But, now? It is only 2 weeks away. NOW, I’m excited.

So the next few weeks I may have a Crafty Tuesday as we prep for birthdays and vacation, but for a few weeks in March you can expect radio silence from around here because I will be in the middle of the Caribbean. Thank you, Uncle Walt.

The Devil On My Shoulder.

Why did Jamie set the alarm for 6:30am?
Hmm…I might have told him last night I needed to run.
It is so early and so cold out.
And our new bed feels so, so good and is so, so warm.
If you don’t get up and do it now (it is already 6:35…), you won’t get a chance to run later.
But my arms and stomach are so sore from yoga class yesterday, maybe I can skip running today.
Bathing suit. In two weeks.
But it is two weeks away, and it is still sort of dark outside.
You ate far too many girl scout cookies last night.
Oh, those @!*& cookies.

(Drag self out of bed. Fumble for some clothes and running shoes.)

It is cold.
Add legs to the mix of achy body parts.
43 degrees! That can’t be right.
Actually, it probably is right. (As lungs scream from the intake of cold air.)
Okay, we’ll just do a quick run.

We’ve made it to one mile – might as well do another now that the kinks have been worked out.
Doesn’t feel as cold, and oh…I love this song!
Need to make a new playlist for running.
But make sure this one is still on it.
Funny it is called FASTER, and I think it makes me run faster, too.

(Round the corner to go back home)

Wow…ok. We are lucky to live here.
It’s going to be a Good Morning.

Ahhh…Monday.

Hello, my old friend Monday. It has felt like a very long time since we last met.

I guess we have just been consumed with piano recitals.

(Emma playing for the Shrove Tuesday Variety Show at church. I LOVE how everyone made it into a sing-a-long. If you watch closely you can see Em start to smile when she realizes that people are singing along. It was kinda cool.)

And there have been some choir performances at church.

(This was the Gospel Cherubs’ Sunday to sing by themselves, but only a few showed up. So the Star Chorus – Em, Avery, Ava and Nicolas, the “big kids,” helped and filled in. Sorry for the incredibly shaky camera work at the start, I was trying to dig out my offering envelope and video at the same time!)

And we had many rehearsals and a fantasticballet performance thrown in for fun, too.

(Addie was a Golden Bunny in the production of the 12 Dancing Princesses, and she and her ballerina friends were outstanding. Her idol, Audrey’s older sister, Yvette, was in the 5pm show as well and not allowed to come greet her fans after the performance. So Daddy Alain hoisted Addie up so she could shower her Yvette with flowers.)

And last, but certainly not least,…the cookies. Oh Lord, the COOKIES!

Needless to say, I’m cookie’d out already. And so very happy it is Monday. Everyone back to school, back to work and last week under our belt. Not that this week is any less busy, but only two more Mondays left before we are out of here!

Sunday Snapshot ~ Saturday Sprawl

So we had to make a big purchase this week for the house.  Most mornings the girls climb in bed with us and we all wiggle around and try to claim a little piece of the bed – but our queen-sized bed just wasn’t cutting it anymore with the four of us + 1 cat. So after last weekend’s “Saturday Scrunch” we went bed shopping and fell in love with a new, lovely, king-sized haven for our Saturday morning snuggles.

And, I must say…yesterday was delicious. We all laid in bed and read for over an hour yesterday morning. I can’t tell you how happy I am that we moved the bed up on the “must-buy list.”

Still here.

Checking in and coming up for a quick breath.

It has been…well, “crazy” doesn’t even begin to cover it. Let’s just say that the spring flowers have quite possibly been blooming for weeks and this is the first time I’ve stopped to smell them.

I have lots of stuff, videos and photos coming up. Just as soon as I can find the weekend. Hope you are all doing well, too…
