Crafty Tuesday

Well, I spent the day crafting with Birdie #2…and we have some fun stuff but…it didn’t get done in time for today’s CT. So I guess you’ll just have to wait until next week.

Three of the projects we accomplished today are for upcoming birthdays, though. It feels good to be ahead of the game for a change. Especially since we are going to be gone for an entire week in a mere two weeks.

OH?! Didn’t I mention where we are going? Well, see for yourself…

EEEEEEEeeeeee!!!

Yes, we are taking a Disney cruise! Add it to the list of perks at Daddy’s Disney job – we get to go be the guinea pigs for the one of the first sailings. We are headed to St. Maarten, St. Thomas and Castaway Cay. I have been trying not to get too excited about it because it seemed so far off and we have SO MUCH TO DO before we go. But, now? It is only 2 weeks away. NOW, I’m excited.

So the next few weeks I may have a Crafty Tuesday as we prep for birthdays and vacation, but for a few weeks in March you can expect radio silence from around here because I will be in the middle of the Caribbean. Thank you, Uncle Walt.

The Devil On My Shoulder.

Why did Jamie set the alarm for 6:30am?
Hmm…I might have told him last night I needed to run.
It is so early and so cold out.
And our new bed feels so, so good and is so, so warm.
If you don’t get up and do it now (it is already 6:35…), you won’t get a chance to run later.
But my arms and stomach are so sore from yoga class yesterday, maybe I can skip running today.
Bathing suit. In two weeks.
But it is two weeks away, and it is still sort of dark outside.
You ate far too many girl scout cookies last night.
Oh, those @!*& cookies.

(Drag self out of bed. Fumble for some clothes and running shoes.)

It is cold.
Add legs to the mix of achy body parts.
43 degrees! That can’t be right.
Actually, it probably is right. (As lungs scream from the intake of cold air.)
Okay, we’ll just do a quick run.

We’ve made it to one mile – might as well do another now that the kinks have been worked out.
Doesn’t feel as cold, and oh…I love this song!
Need to make a new playlist for running.
But make sure this one is still on it.
Funny it is called FASTER, and I think it makes me run faster, too.

(Round the corner to go back home)

Wow…ok. We are lucky to live here.
It’s going to be a Good Morning.

Ahhh…Monday.

Hello, my old friend Monday. It has felt like a very long time since we last met.

I guess we have just been consumed with piano recitals.

(Emma playing for the Shrove Tuesday Variety Show at church. I LOVE how everyone made it into a sing-a-long. If you watch closely you can see Em start to smile when she realizes that people are singing along. It was kinda cool.)

And there have been some choir performances at church.

(This was the Gospel Cherubs’ Sunday to sing by themselves, but only a few showed up. So the Star Chorus – Em, Avery, Ava and Nicolas, the “big kids,” helped and filled in. Sorry for the incredibly shaky camera work at the start, I was trying to dig out my offering envelope and video at the same time!)

And we had many rehearsals and a fantasticballet performance thrown in for fun, too.

(Addie was a Golden Bunny in the production of the 12 Dancing Princesses, and she and her ballerina friends were outstanding. Her idol, Audrey’s older sister, Yvette, was in the 5pm show as well and not allowed to come greet her fans after the performance. So Daddy Alain hoisted Addie up so she could shower her Yvette with flowers.)

And last, but certainly not least,…the cookies. Oh Lord, the COOKIES!

Needless to say, I’m cookie’d out already. And so very happy it is Monday. Everyone back to school, back to work and last week under our belt. Not that this week is any less busy, but only two more Mondays left before we are out of here!

Sunday Snapshot ~ Saturday Sprawl

So we had to make a big purchase this week for the house.  Most mornings the girls climb in bed with us and we all wiggle around and try to claim a little piece of the bed – but our queen-sized bed just wasn’t cutting it anymore with the four of us + 1 cat. So after last weekend’s “Saturday Scrunch” we went bed shopping and fell in love with a new, lovely, king-sized haven for our Saturday morning snuggles.

And, I must say…yesterday was delicious. We all laid in bed and read for over an hour yesterday morning. I can’t tell you how happy I am that we moved the bed up on the “must-buy list.”

Still here.

Checking in and coming up for a quick breath.

It has been…well, “crazy” doesn’t even begin to cover it. Let’s just say that the spring flowers have quite possibly been blooming for weeks and this is the first time I’ve stopped to smell them.

I have lots of stuff, videos and photos coming up. Just as soon as I can find the weekend. Hope you are all doing well, too…

Well…

…this kinda takes all the fun out of poking the bottoms to try and figure out the good fillings, huh?

Nonetheless…it did the trick for a quick sugar fix this afternoon. Thank you, my sweet Valentine.

Crafty Tuesday

We had a productive/crafty weekend around here…finally!

First up, we got around to switching out some lighting around ye ‘ol house. I was positively giddy on Saturday after our new friend Mike hung four different fixtures and put in a bunch of dimmer switches for me.

My mostest, favoritest, bestest new fixture is the kitchen. It is so very pretty.

See the old fixture there in the foreground. Blech…but look at the new shiny pretty one! It has an Edison filament bulb in it, which regrettably doesn’t give off much light, but I don’t care. It really looks so nice. Let’s look again from another angle, shall we?

It is my favorite room, but I think the award for the biggest change goes to the dining room. This is the um…chandelier (?) that we had before. It is brass/glass/out-dated and just a little too busy for our room. As you can see…we have a lot of architecture and details, we needed simple – but a lot of light because it is a huge room.

And so we found this one. Love.

I’ll have to take a better shot of it tomorrow…but trust me, it is a huge improvement. Simple, elegant – goes with the style of the house with a bit of a modern twist. Love, love, love it!

But, enough with the house stuff…it is Valentine’s Day after all!

Thankfully the girls both wanted the same valentines for school…and I got a free download over here – plus they were simple assembly. Score all around.

I also “borrowed” this idea that I found on Pinterest and made these little Valentine candles for our mantle.

I didn’t have a book that I could sacrifice, so I used some scrapbook paper that worked just as well. I’ll light them tonight for our romantic dinner-in with the girlies. 😉

And I put together a birthday gift this weekend. My sewing machine was so happy to see me (and I was just as excited to visit it!).

This is for our sweet little Elizabeth who turned 3 last week! It is a placemat…

Flip it over, it is a chalkboard mat…

And roll it up, it is portable for fun on the go…

I’m not going to promise anything, but I might be making more of these, so maybe I can take photos and tutorial it soon. (Again…no promises!)

And with that…I’m off to some more house projects! What crafty goodness do you have for us this week?
