Crafty Tuesday ~ The Hawaiian Way

Obviously we have not had many crafty things going on the past two weeks, unless you count learning how to tie a sarong over a bathing suit.

We did however partake in a lot of lei-making while we were in Hawaii.

The girls and I made leis and bracelets at the luau –

And made these cool wreaths on the boat after we went whale watching –

Addie wasn’t crazy about the leis, I think because they are a little “itchy” after awhile.

And, of course, since they are made from fresh orchids, we were not able to bring them back with us. But, Em and I can whip one up for you, if you ever need one. And we also have lots of photographic proof of our craft, like these – two of my favorites of Em from the past week.

Man, the lighting on that boat was really great.

Do you have any craftiness to share today?

Crafty Tuesday

Em and I were crafty this past weekend. She wanted to do Valentine’s for her classmates, and I wanted to do a few for the cousins and some of our friends…so our house is currently covered in glitter, but they turned out pretty cute. Addie made a huge mess helped with the glittering, of course.

I got these little “kits” for Em’s Valentine cards in the $1 bin at Target. God love Target!

What craftiness do you have going on this week. I’m anxious to get back to scrapbooking – hopefully when things calm down at the end of the month.

Also, I really need some takers for the Craft It Forward. Anyone?

Crafty Tuesday ~ Craft It Forward

So this is what it is going to take to get me back in my craft mode…

I saw this idea of a Craft Pay It Forward first on Stacy’s site. I loved the idea, but then figured, really, what would I, or could I, craft for the little experiment.

Then I saw it again on HipMomma, and decided that I might be able to come up with something, and it may force me inspire me to do some fun crafts again.

So here is how it all goes.

The first three (3) people to comment here on my site and commit to Crafting It Forward will get a free craft from me.

By committing you must post a similar challenge on your blog – and create something to pass along to your three takers. It can be anything, just needs to be handmade.

Interested? Hurry. Comment. Post. Play along!

Oh, as for what I am going to craft…I think I will give you a choice. I will either create for you:

1. A scrapbook page (you send me any photos and journaling you want incorporated)
2. A little stack of handmade greeting cards (maybe 5 or so – different occasions)
or
3. A little batch of notecards designed for you (with your name or a little design)

Sound good?

Crafty Tuesday

I have goodies to share today, but they were not crafted by me. Far from it, in fact.

I must say I have been doing very poorly on a few of my resolutions, and the “making time for scrapping” is at the top of that list. I just haven’t found the time. There is always next week, I guess.

But, check these out…

china.jpg

They are handcrafted porcelain teacups hand-carried to our home from China!

china2.jpg

The photos really don’t do them justice. They are each just a little different, but all that beautiful porcelain robin egg blue color.

Our friend Davin, who was visiting from Chicago this weekend, brought them back from his travels to China. He says he purposely picked ones that were a little “sturdier” so that we would use them, especially with the girls. Although I think their intended purpose is tea, he suggested we could use them for ice cream dishes, maybe?

That just might work around this house!

They come stacked in this little basket and just look so pretty on our countertop.

And they are so pleasant to photograph. No running away, or quick motions. No goofy faces.

What about you – any craftiness this week? Or maybe someone else’s artistry that is brightening up your house that you’d like to share?

Crafty Tuesday

Well, I haven’t gotten my 2 hours of scrappin’ in this week, and truthfully, it looks highly unlikely that it is going to happen. I did however make three or four homemade cards for all the birthdays we have this week. And I finished a project for my sister’s mother-in-law’s daughter-in-law to be. (Ya get all that?) We put together some really cute stationery to give her for her bridal shower. So that was a fun project, unlike most of my current work ones. Blech.

But, most of last week was spent frantically trying to put together the annual Em & Ad calendar.  I believe they have all been delivered, so I think I’ll share that today for Crafty Tuesday. Here is the “top half” of the calendar. Someday I’d like to have enough time that I can personalize the tops for each family and put in specific photos for each calendar. But as it is now, everyone gets the same.

What kind of craftiness do you have going on this week?

Crafty Tuesday

This is really kind of becoming a joke now, isn’t it? It isn’t that I am NOT being crafty, it is just difficult to showcase any sort of craftiness because most of them are tied to gifts for people, so I can’t really use them until after Christmas.

I am currently working on:

Decorating the house. I’d love to take a picture of the progress (it is so “pretty” around here according to the girls!), but somebody, I’m not naming any names, but somebody left my camera on. I just tried to take some pics and realized I have a dead battery. (Okay, it was probably me. But I’d really like to pass the buck on this one if I could.)

Our Christmas card. And I hate all of you who have sent yours out. Yes, I have received cards already. Come on, people! It is December 3rd!! You can’t be that organized. (And I don’t really hate you, you know.) I have had the “idea” for our card since this summer sometime. But did I do it then? No. Of course not. And pretty much the only available day we had to shoot it – it was a horrible, misty, cold, miserable day. So I am not entirely happy with any of the photos that we got. But I’m working with what I have, and hope to have them out this weekend. This was last year’s, if you don’t remember.

The Calendar. I started doing a calendar for the family when E. was a wee one, so it has evolved into an E & A production for the past 2 years. It is a lot of work, and even though I could start it in January…I never do. But I so love the process of putting it together and seeing how much the girls have changed over the past year. The hardest part is picking out my favorite photos for the month. I guess I don’t have the 2007 calendar up anywhere, the 2006 one (the first appearance of Addie) is up here, if you are interested. Man, that is a trip just looking through it!

Some gifts. I can’t really even mention what genre of craftiness this falls into. E. and I are making some gifts for some peoples.

5 Tutus. Yes, tutus. Two of which need to be completed before next weekend’s recital, and the others I’m making as gifts for some of our little ballerina friends.

And then I have 3 “work” projects going on. I could show those…but they are even more boring than a list of projects. So I think I’ll put you out of your misery now.

Anyone else got some exciting projects that they can show?

Crafty Tuesday

Please. You didn’t really expect something today, did you?

I’ve been traveling for the last week and a half, so nothing again this week. We do, however, head home tomorrow morning and I am so excited to start decorating for Christmas. So we just might have something next week.

Stacy has some cool sewing crafts again this week, so make sure to catch that. Anybody else have anything fun this week?

Crafty Tuesday

One layout. That is all I have managed to do in the past week – or two, or three…but who’s counting?

I got this paper in this scrap-of-the-month thing I belong to. I think I got it a few months ago, but as soon as I saw the paper and some of the embellishments I knew it would be perfect for Em’s first day of preschool. It matches her outfit perfectly.

(Click for a bigger version, as always.)

I know the next two weeks I am not going to get anything “crafty” done, but please check in because we are getting a few more takers, and somebody will have something with all the holidays going on, right? Ladies? Hello?

What do you have to show this week?

Crafty Tuesday

I have been trying to budget my time to fit in some more scrapbooking this week, however – sadly, I am still not very effective and only completed 2 pages again this week. I am so envious of Kimmer, she attended an all-weekend scrap this past weekend – she better have some good stuff to show today!

First up, I got this paper this month from my scrapbook club and with the fall-like weather around these parts this past weekend, I felt a little inspired. This was 4 weeks after Addie was born, her first trip to the pumpkin patch. I incorporated four (count ’em!) different papers and used chalk to “vintage-up” the chipboard and some of the papers. Getting a little crazy around here…

(As always click for the bigs.)

Next up. Might be one of my all-time favorite layouts. I love the simplicity of this and the fact that it celebrates Em and her best friend, Lauren. Had a hard time deciding on photos for this one, though.

What sort of craftiness have you been up to lately? Bring it on.

I’m back, Happy Birthday and Crafty Tuesday all in one…

I have so much to tell you! I am sitting contentedly writing on my very happy laptop with a ton to do, but I don’t care – I’m soooo happy to be back up and running.

Thanks to my sweet husband, who tirelessly worked on my laptop in between all the visits to the Apple store this weekend and last night, we figured out that it was the memory we had installed last year that made ‘ol Mac here very unhappy.

So I just installed new memory in my laptop. Me. How much of a geek-nerd do I feel like telling you all that? But, I am so very proud. Thanks to the tutorial last night from J., and the Apple store wanting to charge me $40 to take the old memory out and pop in the new, I just decided to do it. Five minutes later…all done. Whew. Now we are zipping along and just so, so happy!

Did I mention I was happy?

J. is traveling tonight and tomorrow night so I’ll have time to reset my stuff up here and catch up on all of your blogs! Plus have time to update you on all of our chaos, too.

But first, please go on over to my sweet little godson, Will and wish him a happy 1st birthday! He is one already – man, that is insane. And I haven’t been over there yet, but I’m sure Kim has some fun Tuesday craftiness, too.

Here is my one and only layout from the week. I told you it was nuts around here. But I do love this one. The pics were from one day after Em’s 2nd birthday, which would make her the age Addie is now. It is so weird it seems like yesterday, yet so long ago, too. I was only halfway through my pregnancy with Addie when I took these. (Yeah, I took all the photos, so no pregnant belly photos there – but I’m working on that stupid meme, so maybe you’ll get some.)

Happy, Happy Tuesday!
