Don’t Peek! – Best Shot Monday

My favorite shot from our playgroup/reunion in SF last week. I was hiding this old Easter egg around the yard for them to find. I told them to turn and face the fence and “don’t peek!” While I was trying to find a tricky spot to hide the egg, I looked up and saw this little line-up…

…but they weren’t peeking! I especially love the two little ones on either end “hiding” their eyes, too. Trying to be like the big girls.

Serious trip to the Park – Best Shot Monday

The girls were very subdued at the park yesterday. Lots of serious, “thinking” shots. I had one of Ad all picked out because it made me laugh out loud when I brought it up. And then I came across this one.

I am always surprised when I come across a photo of the girls that literally takes my breath away. Just an opportunity to stop and admire innocence and beauty for a moment. To forget about the frustrations and trials of the week, and just have that “breathtaking” pause of peace.

Okay, because I cannot resist, I will put up two this week. This was my original BSM before I fell in love with the one of Em.

That is a classic A. look. She is mad because her Crocs are full of sand. It cracks me up everytime I look at. Seriously, I get this look. A lot.

The rest of our park photos are up at Flickr and for more great BSM photos, hop over to Tracey’s.

Sandy Bottom – BSM

Okay, I just have one more favorite from the beach this weekend, then I’ll give it a rest.

I can’t put my finger on why I love this photo as much as I do.

I love the hint of the pier across the top (and it’s reflection in the sand), I love the perfect curl of the wave just starting to break. And of course, I love, love, LOVE that sandy-bottomed, determined little girl.

Sometimes the pics where they girls are running away from the camera are the ones that make me long for them even more.

Just Me and Bear – Best Shot Monday

Taken again in my favorite spot where the sunshine streams through one of our windows in the late afternoon. Addie reminds me of a cat. Sometimes she’ll see a sunny spot and just plop down in it. This time Bear was underneath her when she did. Of course she didn’t actually take a catnap, but it was a brief pause in her usual constant motion.

(Click for larger image, as always.) I know I’ve been pretty “focused” on Addie lately, I think subconsciously I am gearing up for what is going to be a BIG week of Em. Five days and counting til she goes to “school.”

I keep telling myself that it is just summer camp, it is not really school. (Yes, I’m pretending she is not really going to school, yet!) But to her it is preschool, and it is the school she will be attending in the fall. So I know we’ll have plenty ‘o pics of Em this week, so soak Addie up while you can.

Birthday Fairy Best Shot Monday

Hey! Check it out…a photo that is not of my girls! Can you believe it?

It does happen to be another Emma, tho’.  Emma Louise, aka “Little Emma”, turned 3 this weekend and we celebrated up in the Glen with her. The fairy outfit was a gift from her Nana and she looked the part flying through the air on the swing…

Happy Birthday Little Em! Don’t forget to stop over to see other Best Shot Monday pics.

I have about 200+ fun pics to put up, including Emma Grace’s attempt at rollerskating this weekend (Grace may not have been the best choice for a middle name for her in retrospect, but they are fun pics!) and I had an amazing night last night that I’ll attempt to describe, maybe during naptime? I’ll work on all that. Stay tuned. Happy Monday!

Tasty chicken legs – Best Shot Monday

I had a hard time deciding on a photo this week since we have hundreds from our vacation last week, and I have dozens of favorites. I will share them throughout the week and post them all to my flickr, but in the meantime – thought I’d share this one of Addie in Willemstad. It isn’t that great a photo technically – but it just makes me laugh! She has sweet little chubby thighs that are far from chicken legs, but she is still a tasty little treat!

The Future Is So Bright…

…we had to wear shades in sunny California yesterday. Unfortunately, the future was not looking so bright for our beloved Cubbies.

It was Addie’s first Cubs game (on the outside at least, she attended a few safely tucked away in my tummy before she made her grand appearance). Maybe if it had been at Wrigley the Cubbies would have won for Addison. (For crying out loud, she is named after one of the streets your stadium sits on – you can’t give her a win for her first game?)

At any rate…we got a lot of fun pictures, ate a lot of hotdogs and peanuts, and had a good time. My Best Shot Monday is here…along with a couple of other ones just for fun! Make sure to check out other fun photos at Picture This today.

A.’s surprise after the Cubs, got their third out, leaving the bases loaded.

And finally, it was not only A.’s first Cubs game, it was also our first foray into pigtails. Behold the teeny, tiny little curly pigtails. They lasted til about the 6th inning…not too bad, I’d say.

A Mother’s Love – Best Shot Monday

Tracey’s theme for today’s Best Shot Monday is a Mother’s Love. This was a hard one. I decided on this photo that I had actually taken last December. It fills me with love every time I look at it.

girls.jpg

I remember thinking, like most mothers, when I was pregnant with A., “how in the world will I ever love another child as much as I love E?” Yet the moment I had A. my fears vanished. But now, seeing the girls together, that is what truly makes my heart swell. They are each beautiful girls on their own, but together they are amazing.
