I always have non-Californians ask if our trees lose their leaves in the fall.

Um…this is our front walk/yard. It is usually a nice green lawn (or during the very summer months – a yellowish/green).

So yes…we do lose our leaves. Our ash tree usually drops its leaves in November, but weird weather this winter has the poor trees all mixed up. It is bizarre to sit and literally watch the leaves fall off of the tree.

By the bagful.

Every time Addie walked outside last week she would say, “Oh Mama! It is fall! Look at all the leaves falling off of the trees!”

Of course her older, much wiser sister corrects her instantly. “NO Addie, it is actually winter. We just live in CAL-i-FORnia!”

It didn’t stop Addie from jumping in the leaves last week though. (Note: This was taken the day after the gardener cleaned up the yard and he bundled up two big barrels plus 15 bags of leaves. We swept up another huge pile, and you can’t even tell right now that we have picked any leaves up at all!)

And Bear had to take a turn, too…

I’m Gonna Miss This?

Go ahead, I’ll wait. Actually maybe I had better go with you and listen to it again, too.

Because I do know that I am going to miss this…

and this too…

But the other “adventures” in parenting that made up today?

The running and screaming through the house?
The trail of toys from one end of the house to the other, when didn’t I just pick them all up one hour ago?
The five straight hours of refereeing, including repeating myself about 6 times, “Stop it…before someone gets hurt!” (Someone did get hurt before I got to the 7th time!)
The “selective hearing” when I know that they had to have heard it at least once when I’ve asked 24 straight times?

I don’t know. You are going to have a hard time convincing me that I’m going to miss that!
We’ll see.

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Yep, we have another birthday – and we are not done for the month of January yet either! We still have a few more up our sleeve in the next few weeks.

Crafty Tuesday

I’ve got a whole lot of “should’ve – would’ve – could’ve” today.

I should’ve had at least four or five new bags to show, but my sewing machine has been quiet for the past two-ish weeks. My list of promised bags continues to grow.

I would’ve shown you the birthday cards I created today, but since I sent them off late – they will not be to their intended recipients for a few days, so I can’t show them either.

And then I remembered that I never got to show my scrapbook weekend project since it was a Christmas gift. But it has been delivered to my mom-in-law, so I could’ve shown that. But…yeah. I apparently did not take any photos of my layouts. Bah. The only photo I got of my hard work was this one…you can kind of see some layouts if you squint a little.

I told you my weekend was productive! I finished the entire scrapbook in one weekend – maybe someday I’ll get to photograph it for the archives.

I did get some great scrapbooking stuff for Christmas (Thanks Mom & Dad, Kimmer and Jeff!) so I am jonesing to get in there and scrap, maybe after I whittle down my sewing pile a little bit this week.

How about all of you? I know Stacy has something over at her place. Anyone else have some good stuff to show?
