Incommunicado No More!

Just yesterday my friend Michelle, who hadn’t seen Ad in a few weeks, commented on how much she seemed to understand and respond to all of us. And she does seem to “get” everything that is going on. And then tonight…we had an actual conversation. A conversation, with my 16-month old! It was pretty cool.

I took the girls to dinner at Chipotle and Addie was eating the guacamole, not on chips – just off of a fork, and I think she got some in her eyes. I didn’t see it, but when she started crying, our little conversation went like this:

Me: “What is wrong, baby?”
Ad: “Oh No! Me, Mama. Eyes, me eyes.”
Me: “Did you get something in your eyes?”
Ad: (Vigorous nodding yes)

So I wiped her eyes with a napkin and asked her if I got it and it was ok. And she smiled and nodded. She was able to tell me what was wrong and we totally understood each other. It was amazing.

Look it is an official toddler! Please someone tell me where my baby has gone?

Small Miracle

I know God has better things to do than worry about my kids’ sleeping problems. But that hasn’t stopped me from offering up prayers to him many times over the past month(s)…I just needed some divine intervention.

I’m not saying all the problems have been solved, but last night was a “normal” night’s sleep.

7:15pm – both girls in bed (Em in mine, and Addie in her crib)
9pm – Mommy in bed
Sleep
Sleep
Kick Smokey off the bed
Sleep
Again with Smokey
Sleep
6:30am – Addie wakes up
6:50am – Em wakes up

Quick calculation = Mommy had 9 (count ’em!) hours of sleep. More than I had the previous 3 nights combined.

Niiiicccee! Life is good around here this morning. We might make it til Friday when J. comes home…
