I’m back, Happy Birthday and Crafty Tuesday all in one…

I have so much to tell you! I am sitting contentedly writing on my very happy laptop with a ton to do, but I don’t care – I’m soooo happy to be back up and running.

Thanks to my sweet husband, who tirelessly worked on my laptop in between all the visits to the Apple store this weekend and last night, we figured out that it was the memory we had installed last year that made ‘ol Mac here very unhappy.

So I just installed new memory in my laptop. Me. How much of a geek-nerd do I feel like telling you all that? But, I am so very proud. Thanks to the tutorial last night from J., and the Apple store wanting to charge me $40 to take the old memory out and pop in the new, I just decided to do it. Five minutes later…all done. Whew. Now we are zipping along and just so, so happy!

Did I mention I was happy?

J. is traveling tonight and tomorrow night so I’ll have time to reset my stuff up here and catch up on all of your blogs! Plus have time to update you on all of our chaos, too.

But first, please go on over to my sweet little godson, Will and wish him a happy 1st birthday! He is one already – man, that is insane. And I haven’t been over there yet, but I’m sure Kim has some fun Tuesday craftiness, too.

Here is my one and only layout from the week. I told you it was nuts around here. But I do love this one. The pics were from one day after Em’s 2nd birthday, which would make her the age Addie is now. It is so weird it seems like yesterday, yet so long ago, too. I was only halfway through my pregnancy with Addie when I took these. (Yeah, I took all the photos, so no pregnant belly photos there – but I’m working on that stupid meme, so maybe you’ll get some.)

Happy, Happy Tuesday!

Crafty Tuesday

I promised that there would be no more “kippy” party action around here, but then I realized e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g remotely “crafty” around here last week involved the “kippy” party.

So one more post and then I promise we’ll lay it to rest.

We made some doggy bag stickers for the goody bags.

And you saw the puppy and kitty ears headbands we made.ears.jpg

I used the same doggy as the bags for our pin-the-bone in the puppy’s mouth game.

Oh, yeah…and the cake.

I’m crafted out.

Although I have 400 pictures of A.’s birthday party to scrap now. Guess that will keep me busy. And if that won’t, this will.

More puppies. And Em wants to be a “very” (fairy!) for Halloween. Sure I could buy the costumes, but really…what fun would that be?

What craftiness did you come up with this week?

Crafty Tuesday

Yeah, I’ve got nothing this week.

Well, that isn’t entirely true. The girls and I are working on “crafts” for the kippy party on Saturday.

And, I am organizing Ad’s scrapbook and putting it in order.

AND, I finally finished the huge collage frame that has been sitting in our room for a few months with random photographs in it. Here is a little pic of it –

If you go to our flickr account you can see the photos I chose for the collage. They are all favorites of mine.

I’m sure next week we’ll have lots to show, including the um…attempt at a doggy/kitty cake.

Oh! But check out Elisa and Melissa’s creations for their party. They took pictures of each guest with Melissa and then did the one-hour developing – so all of the guests went home with a clothespin photo holder and picture as a party favor. Cool, huh? I’m definitely filing that one away for a later party idea!

Do you have any crafts to share this week?

Crafty Tuesday

We are at it again…a little more craftiness and with these three layouts, I think Ad’s book is just about done! I mean, I have oodles of photos, I could keep going and going, but I think I’ll switch over and start doing layouts for 2006, and start including Em in the layouts. For all intensive purposes, I caught most of A.’s major milestones and holidays, so I’m calling it d-o-n-e.

A’s first Halloween. She was a lil’ pumpkin.

Her first Easter. I actually got this “kit” with pretty, pretty paper perfect for Easter, from my friend Kimmer. I improvised on a few things and didn’t do it like the kit suggested, but I think that is part of the fun and it turned out alright.

I love this layout. Let’s see how many photos we can cram on a page. I think I got about half of my favorites from Ad’s first Christmas. There were a lot of potentials. But I love, love, love the vintage paper…it is very fun.

What about you? Got something to share? Some craftiness you are itching to show the world? Leave a comment with a link to your goods.

Crafty Tuesday

I have two different layouts of Ad’s “in progress” right now, well, really in pieces. I have all of the photos and papers I am going to use for her 1st Halloween and 1st Christmas, but I just haven’t had a minute to really put them all together. They are spread out all over my desk, (ha! I will not be taking pictures of our craft/playroom today.) just waiting patiently for me to get around to them.

Are we still on track? Hmm…we have 2 1/2 weeks before Ad. turns 2. Yikes. I think we’ll be close though. I have the major holidays, Halloween, Christmas and Easter to do still, and a few others. I need an all-day Saturday scrap and I could be done, I think.

I have been craftily (is that a word?) trying to plan Ad’s birthday party, though. Here is the invite I got done last week.

ad_invite.jpg

(click to big it…as always)

If anyone has any good ideas for a cake or “kippy” type foods, let me know! (1000th commenter gets a prize – don’t forget!)

I have also completed an invitation for a pool party for some neighbors and a few different flyers for others, so my crafts have been all computer-based the past week.

But my friend Elisa has been sharing her craftiness with me, but she doesn’t have a blog, (Yet! She needs one, so we need to work on her.) but you can see her layouts here and here. She did these albums for her son, John’s coaches. Each player has their own page. Pretty impressive, huh. Yeah. I’m off to get some more done on mine. Check out Kim – I’m sure she has some cool stuff to show today, too!

Updated: Check out Kimmer, too! She has gifts that she made my girls. They have not left Em’s feet since we received them. Ad loves hers, but can’t get them between the right toes most of the time!

Crafty Tuesdays

Okay, so I have decided to institute “Crafty Tuesdays.” I need to have some sort of accountability in my crafting life. When I have projects for work, I know that I am accountable to my boss and the client. I go to the gym because I am accountable to the scale and being healthy for the girls. (And making my pants fit!) And I do laundry, clean the house, make meals because I must with the family depending on me.

I figure if I need to have something to post for all of you to see each week, then maybe I will re-prioritize and work on my scrapping again. My intent is to have Addie’s first year scrapbook done by her 2nd birthday.

There. I have now written it down, and you all have to hold me accountable for getting it done. We have 2 months from yesterday.

Last night I skipped my usual veg-out session in front of the TV and didn’t even read one blog on my laptop. Instead, I started out getting some of my scrap stuff organized and I even got 3 different layouts done! Plus I realized how much I missed being creative for myself, instead of just for my job.

I know that I love other “crafty” people’s blogs when they show their work. It is inspiring and great to “lift” some good ideas. So I hope you are inspired a little, too – or at least like looking at sweet pictures of my girls!

So I’m still playing with the best way to show-off the layouts. I don’t have a large enough scanner to scan them in – and I, of course, took the pics at 11pm last night, not great lighting. So I’ll play with that in the upcoming weeks and see what we can come up with.

Yes, I didn’t work solely on A.’s book last night either. But the pics of Em and Papa were just calling me, I had to scrap them. And look how tiny and sweet Addie used to be! Ahhh….yeah, it is fun to relive all of our past few years as I print pictures, create layouts and journal the memories.

I also finished another craft project that I’m so excited about – but I can’t show it to you, yet! It is a birthday gift for my mother-in-law, and I know she reads this (Hi, Nena!), and she isn’t getting the gift until next week when we go back to Michigan. Maybe that will have to be next week’s Crafty Tuesday project.
