Checking In and Up

So big news on the Addie front this week.

We have pee’d in the potty again…and continue to love sitting on the potty. So I’m moving forward in the potty training. I figure if she is interested, I might as well take advantage of it.

Also, I finally just cold-turkey’d the bottles. Come to find out that was a big part of why she was getting up in the middle of the night. She and I were at Target the other night and she saw some “Do-do” cups (that is Dora to those not in the “know) and I told her that they were only “milk” cups. She was quiet for a minute and then said “milk!” So I bought them and a few others I thought we would try, and I have only offered her milk in a sippy or through a straw. The first night was a little rough when she kept pushing away the cup and insisting on “MILK!” But I just kept giving her the cups saying, “here is your milk.” And she got it. And…has been sleeping through the night 7pm-7am. If only I had known…and if only I could’ve gotten her to take a bottle the FIRST year of her life.

She also got her 18month checkup today. She is in the 60th percentile for weight and 88th for height!! She is soooo big. Our little “tiny” nickname really doesn’t fit her any more – she really is catching up to Emma.

I also asked the pediatrician about her clumsiness…she seems to be falling down. A lot. And the pediatrician said she could possibly have a little big of equilibrium imbalance due to her colds/ear problems. Or it could just be because her center of gravity is “all up here” and as she said it she motioned towards her head – but she kind of made a “big head” motion. She had just told me that Addie’s brain development is spectacular and her head is really growing…but now I think she may have just been telling me that I have a child with a very, big head!

But overall analysis…she is perfect. Which we already knew. And with the sleeping thing getting all figured out she is getting more perfect by the day night!

  1. Jamie had to take Kirsten’s bottle at night for the same reason, that girl had her up all night long. It never even occurred to me to make that suggestion or I would have. Sorry! I think they are getting too gassy or something. Glad to hear you are finally getting a good night’s sleep.

Good luck with the move. I have learned that I write your address in pencil and not pen in my address book :)

  2. We are headed to our 18mo checkup today. Oh Joy. My little guy recently made the transition to sippy as well. A rough road but so worth it. Here’s to restful nights! *CLINK*
