Restful ~ Theme Thursday

I give the girls a bath every night before bed. I realize it probably isn’t ecologically sound (although I do bathe them together, so it is only one bath, not two!) and they definitely don’t need it every night (I don’t wash their hair every night!). But I mostly give them some tubby time because it calms them down. It is part of our “on the way down” routine, and also – the most restful time of the day.

With the time change this past week, we have been having some getting to sleep and getting up problems around our house. But, on the plus side, it is light still at bathtime again. So the wonderful natural light lends to some good photography practice times. (Which is restful for Mommy!)

The pigtails? That is how we tried to get her hair out of her way for dance class today. What you can’t see is all the hair falling out of the pigtails on the back of her head!

Taking baths usually makes me feel like this too, Addie! For me there is nothing more relaxing or peaceful than a nice, long soak. Pure heaven. And the proof of a good soak? Some good ‘ol pruney toes.

Kickin' back

Be sure to stop over to Stacy’s to soak up some other restful photos today.

  1. Wow. I really need to take some lessons from you. Bathtime is absolutely, positively NOT restful at our house. They just want to play and not get washed!

Great shots…always love the shots of those piggies. And the soap on Em’s chin is priceless.

  2. Oh. My. Gosh. Em’s tiny little pigtails are SO precious! Your bathroom tile looks like it’s almost the same color as my bedroom walls. :) I’m pretty sure I’m told you I’m jealous of natural light in the bathroom…but just in case I haven’t, I’m telling you now!

  3. Ohh look at those little toes , i NEED to steal that idea.

We do bathtime every night after dinner to , so much part of the routine not sure the kids would go to sleep with out it.

  4. The pigtails and pruney toes are all too much. Your house sounds very much like our house. We do baths every night too, but only wash hair every other night. It is very much a part of our bedtime routine. Although I can’t say it is always relaxing. My two are also having trouble with the time change. Hopefully that will resolve itself soon.

  5. Emma is SO CUTE with those little piggies! I’m glad to hear that bathtime is restful at your house. Having those routines is really nice so the kids have their patterns set. Anya gets hysterically upset when the bath is running…so not so much restful here . ;0

  6. The toes are awesome! I so want to relax in a tub and come out with feet like that too. ;) Sounds like a good bedtime ritual though. You definitely need something to start unwinding before lights out.

I think the pigtails are way cute. ;)

  7. Great shots.

We do baths almost every night. I started putting Ana’s bath seat/sling thing in the tub with Zoe. So much easier to do 2 at one time.

  8. I can’t pinpoint exactly when it happened, but somehow our restful bathtime became “get really hyper and splash” time. So now I do baths in the morning every few days and sometimes I just do one kid per day. I’m hoping we go back to restful someday because those shots made it look sooooooo great.
