Look who is hanging around our house ~ Best Shot Monday

Last week while we were getting ready for school J. and Addie discovered a little visitor in our courtyard.

What the...?

Addie checked on him before school, after school, and several times throughout the day. “Mama! He’s still there!” she’d screech.

He is still there!

What was it that created such a commotion?

Praying that he won't fall off the gate

This lovely little praying mantis is my BSM for today. If you click on the photo you can get a closer look. He was really, really cool. Since then we have seen two others in our garden – well perhaps this guy again and his friend!

Stop by Tracey’s to see who else is hanging around with some BSMs.

  1. wonderful picture of the mantis!

it is really funny though because we have praying mantis pictures too! i’m planning on posting them tomorrow! :)

  2. Her expression is priceless. I had no idea what kind of creature would be revealed. Praying Mantis are really cool.

  3. The very best part of this is her wide-eyed epressions of fascination. I have some hysterical pictures of Nadia with a lizard – she was a bit freaked! I haven’t seen a praying mantis in forever…he’s a cool little guy!

  4. I love the fascination and excitement in her eyes. How great that the little critter was there again and again. Thats just great fun for kids.

  5. Oh my…we had one IN our house this week! They must be in season! I took a picture of ours too…I may just have to post it now too! :) I love the shot of him…soooo cool that he’s sitting in the spiral!

  6. What a cool shot — you’re in California with all those “fancy” bugs. We stick to plain old grasshoppers in boring old Kansas!

  7. Very cool bug. One of the few bugs I’m ok with.

I tried to click it larger and flickr said it was private. Do I have to be added?

  8. Oh I love the expression of Addie on her face on photo 1, really captured her amazement of the bug and probably a little curious of it being there for long. Nice shot. The mantis shot was awesome too :)
