Christmas Cheer ~ Best Shot Monday

I finally have it. After a packed and productive weekend, I am the proud owner of both a little bit of Christmas spirit and a much shorter to-do list. And it feels good.

We put up not one, but two Christmas trees on Saturday. It was so fun with the girls this year. I’ve said it a hundred times once or twice before, and I’ll say it again…the girls are at the BEST age right now. They are still excited about family time and truly do want to be helpful. I know some day they will not be so anxious to help, and I’ll be left decorating by myself, so I am just eating it up while I can.

Testing out the lights. She kept saying “Are they hot, Mama?”

Em was an ornament-hanging pro by the end of the night. Very serious about the task and I didn’t even have to go back and re-arrange after her. Well…not too much.

Every ornament was paid proper respect and excitement. Ad couldn’t believe this one had her name on it!

And Em loves every ornament from when she was a “baby.” She kept asking, “Was this one mine when I was a tiny baby?”

So our house is completely decorated. It looks amazing. J and I got a ton of shopping done on Friday. And I also finished my Christmas cards on Saturday (also with a little bit of help from my Christmas elf, Em!).

Not that I don’t have a bunch of stuff to do still, but what a difference a weekend makes. I think I’ll just go turn out the lights and enjoy the fire and the pretty tree.

I’m making this one my Best Shot Monday. The soft glow of Christmas is upon us.

  1. Good for you (capturing the Christmas spirit). It truly is about watching it through our children’s eyes isn’t it. What an amazing perspective we have through their little eyes! I have pics of my kids hanging up their personalized ornaments, too. And Oh how excited they were to see their names!

  2. Well goodness you got a TON accomplished over the weekend! And it sounds like you truly enjoyed each moment too.

The girls’ faces with the tree are darling. I can’t wait for Zane next year to be like this (hopefully he’ll be done playing with boxes by then!)

  3. WOW — you really did make good headway! I am so very jealous. No matter how early I start, the time still goes too fast and I end up being behind schedule. But you are making such good progress! Seeing those kids trim your tree was priceless!!

    Love you lots.

  4. Looks nice… I even saw a few ornaments that we have on our tree this year. Lauren was the same way as Em… “Is this my ornament?” “Did Grandma give this to me when I was a baby?” I love the look on Addie’s face as she’s looking at her ornament. So cute! I can’t wait until Will is old enough to help, since I spend most of my days lately pulling him off the tree and the computer desk, and the book shelf and the table……

  5. So pretty. I love the one of Addison’s ornament. My daughter kept asking the same thing about all her baby ornaments, which only made me feel guilty that we don’t have any for the new baby. Guess I’ll have to add that to my to-do list!

  6. Beautiful pics, as always! We visited my parents last night and their tree is up. The girls were pretty fascinated but not nearly as helpful as yours. Mine preferred to try to eat stuff. Ugh.

  7. I know I say this all the time…but WOW, gorgeous! I love the wonder and excitment in their eyes, and you did a beautiful job capturing it. I love the photo of Addie with “her” ornament. Nadia’s not too much into Christmas this year, but I have a feeling next year will be full of wonder with her!! You really did get a lot done over the weekend. Wanna come tackle my Christmas to-do list?! ;)

  8. You have little Christmas Elves at your house too!!!
We decorated our tree this weekend and Zoe was in heaven. I still have to post pictures. (I’ve been so blah about posting… gotta get over that.)

  9. The prettiest girls!! They look wonderful in those photos — and it’s so hard to get the light right when it’s dark. They’re great.

  10. I love children’s wonder and excitement, it’s contagious. I think without them I wouldn’t be in the mood. Lovely photos.
