God Loves High School Musical

I may have mentioned the High School Musical Mania in our house, although the girls call it “High School Music-school.” But if you have not witnessed Addie’s rendition of “Breakin’ Free,” especially the beginning that starts -

We’re soarin’, flyin’
There’s not a star in heaven
That we can’t reach

-well, then! You are in for a Thursday treat.

J. caught the girls goofing around on video on his laptop the other night. It isn’t Addie’s best performance, but it is still pretty funny. I especially love the part where Emma tries to tell Addie how it is supposed to go and Ad gets fed up and tries to squirm away.

Good times.

While we are on the subject of High School Music-school and the obsession, today while we were in the car they asked for a HSM song…

A: Mama, turn up High School Music-school?
M: Sorry Ad., Mama’s iPod isn’t charged up.
E: But it is the Radio Disney, right Mama?
M: Yes, it is. But you can’t control what song they play when you are listening to the radio, Em.
E: Maybe God can play “Fabulous” for us.
A: Or “Na-na-na-na”
(Music in Me, for anyone who knows/cares what song A. was talking about.)
M: I think God probably is worried about other things, not what song the Radio Disney is playing.

And then, I kid you not, the next song was “Music in Me.” (Na-na-na-na.) It wasn’t too surprising since they pretty much rotate Hannah Montana, High School Musical, and the Cheetah Girls. So every third song is usually a HSM song. But such timing!

A: (shrieks) It is Na-na-na-na, Mama, it is!
E: See, Mama?! God likes High School Music-school, too.

Can’t argue with that, I guess.

  1. So, God is in great company with Addie, Em and Melissa (yes, a high school junior who loves HSM)!!! : ) I love it.

And the videotape is just precious!

I wish I had gotten more videotape of the kids doing that kind of stuff. You always think, Next time, and suddenly they aren’t doing that same stuff anymore. James used to come into the room, tell us it was time for a concert, present us with a list of choices and then would BELT OUT songs at the top of his lungs. It was so sweet and funny and left us cheering for more.
Choices included: Take Me out to the Ballgame
    Jingle Bells
    The ABC song
    Twinkle Twinkle
and songs from whatever Disney movie was the flavor of the day.

Love it … love it … love it!!!!

  2. The video is adorable…. but “God likes High School Musical, too.” That’s priceless.

And… how could God not like it… it’s all just so catchy.

  3. Emily loves it, too. I have to do the boy’s part of “Gotta Go My Own Way”. Scarily I like the song, but get yelled at when she catches me singing Gabriella’s part!
Isn’t it scary that they know ipods and tivo even so young? Emily gets so mad at the upstairs tv that won’t rewind or pause!

  4. Oh, Jenny! Emma and I have to do “Gotta Go My Own Way” together and she gets mad if I sing Gabriella’s part, too! But Gabriella’s part is so much better than Troy’s :-)

It is funny how connected these kids are. The girls are the same about Tivo and they don’t even know that music comes on a CD anymore, let alone a cassette – or an LP!

  5. ROFL! God love HSM too, that’s aweomse! What perfect timing.

What’s even more awesome is Addie’s little performance, and the interaction between your girls. Love it! Ad’s got quite the sining voice already!

  6. OK… I have got to see HSM! I have no idea what you’re talking about. Shame on me! Maybe you could ftp the music to the server for me? That video is too cute!

  7. Ok, I don’t have kids and I’m feeling completely out of the loop with HSM. I’m thinking of buying the CD just so I know what all the hype is about

  8. The HSM mania is in our house as well, I went to pick P. up from school the other day and I was asked what kind of dancing I teach at home? Oh no, what did she do I wondered? Although I was never told or shown I can only imagine. I’m sure it was the “na na na” song. P. counts down …. 5, 6, 7, 8 and starts the hip wiggling and slowly slinks her little body down. Anyway, absolutely love the video!

  9. Ah — since everyone is bragging about their “kids” — and with good reason — maybe this is the time to tell you that our “kid” was just in that play. Of course, he played one of only 3 of the adult parts — but, hey — he started when he was very young! So hang in there young ones — if God can play it right on time, who knows what else He might have in mind for all of you? Love those stories!

  10. Can’t wait til you are all soarin’ to see us for our personal demonstration! Ahhh…only a few more days!
