Dipy Thursday – Week #8

I don’t know if it is the time change or what, but I’m stumbling through this week just a bit. Having a few issues here and there and feeling a little brain dead. Yes, let’s blame the time change, shall we?

So Kimberly chose Grids/Squares this week. Again, seemed totally easy and do-able last week when she suggested it. Last week. Fast forward to Wednesday, the day I am to supposed to get her something. I was frantically roaming around outside trying to see something that would fit into our theme. I have hopscotch grids, patio tile grids, a bunch of flower shots (totally don’t fit into the Grid theme, but everything is so blooming and lovely right now I couldn’t resist) but nothing that really excited me.

And then while I was doing dishes, (in my freshly painted kitchen, thank you very much!) I just happened to look over and see the lovely sun streaming through my basket next to my sink making a magnificent shadow of…a grid of squares on my grid of tile!

Done and done. I do love how this challenge makes me see everyday objects through new eyes.

Now I’ve been trying for a very long time to figure out Kimberly’s. I’m thinking it is a screen door? Whatever it is…it is c-o-o-l! Pop over to her place to see what it is for sure. The rainbow effect is doubly awesome, and I’m thinking it might have been left by her little leprechaun helper yesterday – she is such an awesome Mom! I mean…er…awesome Mom for letting the little leprechaun into her house, of course.

And make sure to stop by to see what others have been seeing this week, too.

  1. You guys have been coming up with some great themes. This one was definitely a hard one. Sometimes the best photos are the ones you aren’t looking for, right?

  2. Great grid capture. I like you both seemed to accidentally see grids and squares where you didn’t expect it. Very cool shots that make a great combo together. :)

  3. I keep looking at your shot and thinking, “Where do you get a bottle of soap like that?” LOL! You’re very green I take it? Gosh, I already said what I thought about your photo (on my blog) but it feels like I should say more. What a conundrum. ;)

  4. love these. it is a challenging theme, but wonderful results. i love how the color in kimberly’s seems to seep down along the same plane into the label on your bottle (did that make any sense? it does in my mind:).

  5. I keep looking at that bottle and expecting it to say “gin” instead of “soap.” :) Bet that stuff smells good too. The themes always seem easy…at first! You did great with this tho – grids on top of grids. Such homey, fresh image, too.

  6. I love those old fashion bottles that look like liquor. The fonts and designs are so unique….and how you joked that you just keep it hanging around your sink all day….Heehee ;0) It was great how you captured grids so well in your shot with the shadow, the wall and the basket. You couldnt have asked for a better set up. Nice job.

  7. Two great shots — and so different this week! I love the lighting in your shot — and I’m only slightly jealous of how clean your kitchen looks!

  8. (I’m a little late.) I saw your shot and wondered what you were drinking this early in the morning how could I get me some. Love that bottle! I truly wish that I had built this house with the kitchen having a window (it’s in the middle of the house instead.) Not sure what I was thinking cuz I have always wanted that. It’s as if Kimberly’s screen could be a close up of a screen just above your sink. Love how they came together. Great job, team.
