Crafty Tuesday

Yeah…so…about last week. I kinda forgot to post anything, and honestly didn’t really have anything to post anyhow.

And this week? I don’t have anything to post anyhow.

I do have some stuff in the works (Aunt Laura and Carey your bags are coming!) but since I didn’t get them out in the mail, I don’t want to spoil the surprise by posting them today.

I am finally getting through all of the feeds in my reader from last week and getting caught back up, so I am anxious to see if you all have some goodies for me to check out this week.

Now, on to some other business…

A certain little someone in our house is turning six in a month. My God, did you hear me? Six! SIX!

What are we going to get her for her birthday?

Almost six?!

Besides new jeans (because she has grown like three inches in the past month) or a brick (for her head to make her STOP growing) – what is something fun that six-year olds like these days? Any ideas?

  1. Sorry, Carrie, I don’t know what a great gift would be for your cutie up there. Eventually I will have a six year old girl, and it seems like it is going by so fast. Anya will be 4 in May. I can’t believe it has gone by so fast!

  2. I happen to have a 6(soon to be 7) year old girl so I might know a little about them. So yes about 10 pairs of pants in the next 3 sizes because they grow out of them in a month. Being that you are such a crafty person I suggest the jewelry making kits. Connor has a childrens one from Hearthsong that is quite nice. She loves to make me fabulous presents. It is actually a lot of fun for me too. Be careful it can be addictive, as most crafts are.

  3. Martha -
That is a really great idea! I’m off to search for some.

I am also hunting for some good “bug kits” – she wants to grow butterflies (they did that in preschool last year) and someone shared their ant farm at school yesterday – she was very intrigued! So any suggestions on “buggy” things are appreciated too!

    -c.

  4. Actaully my son was checking out all the buggy things yesterday in the Hearthsong catalog. The had worm farms, bug houses, butterfly nursery, praying mantis kit, etc. They have a website http://www.hearthsong.com
I love their creative and educational toys. The butterfly nursery looks like a great idea. Have fun shopping!!

  5. Love the header!

I’d suggest the fun educational toys too….they go so much further than just the toy box.

Our teacher supply stores carry wonderful gifts, I’m always tempted to get some type of “kit” there. Ours has a really cool ant farm. It’s called A+Plus Teaching Supplies.

We raised painted ladies last year and AJ wants to raise more soon.

I’m sure you will find wonderful gifts to give her….six, how fun!
    :)

  6. yeah, i worked at a teaching supply store for a while and we had all kinds of kits- butterflies, ants, ladybugs, frogs. they are always fun!
i think you can see them online at: unitednow.com.
“butterfly garden”, “lady bug land” are the names of the product i remember. :)

i did make the invites for sprout’s birthday party- they are a little crafty. i’ll try to take pictures later and post them. (camera battery is dead)

  7. I too love the header!

Ellie just got the Glitter Lava Window Suncatcher Kit for her birthday and it is really neat. Really, any of the glitter lave stuff is cool.

  8. Wow, 6. Tell me if the brick works.
Being that I have 2 boys I wouldn’t know the first thing about girls. I can tell you that when my niece was turning 6 0r 7 my sister had a “Tea Party” for her Birthday. She bought china tea cups/saucers/plates for thirft shops/yard sales and use those for the party plates, they also bought straw hates/silk flowers/scarfs and made “Garden Hats” at the party to wear at the table for the “”Tea”. It was really fun.

  9. I wish for that magical brick for the head too! My 3 year old is going through a growth spurt and I swear he’s going to be as tall of his sister in another year. She’s 5′ even. Growing quickly makes me think kids just grow up to fast. I’m sure you guys will do something fun for her birthday. :)
