Glad to be California Girls

There is clearly a time and place for cold weather and snow. And according to these girls…the snow should only be around for a very short period of time and far away from our everyday life.

Em didn’t seem to mind the snow too much and I think really loved our sledding trip with the cousins.

But Addie, she is not a fan of the white stuff. I managed to keep a jacket, hat and mittens on her about 50% of the time, but it was torture, pure torture I tell you! It was as if the mittens were scalding the very skin off of her hands.

My sis (or bro-in-law, I’m not sure which) managed to get a picture of me *loving* the chilly weather for about 2 minutes.  I think maybe my blood has thinned a bit in the past three fair-weathered years we’ve been in So Cal.

The first thing Emma said Tuesday morning as I was getting her ready for school? “Mama, I’m so glad to wear my tennis shoes, I don’t like wearing boots all the time!”

And Addie squealed, “Mama! I get to wear a dress now ‘cuz it isn’t snowy! Right?”

You can take the girl out of California, but you can’t take the California out of the girl!

  1. Amen sister! Not a California girl, but I can see myself becoming accustomed to snowless winters:o) This flip flop wearing girl is still managing a few days of them IN January. Never would have happened in MI.

  2. Ah — you sure be here today! We can’t even see across the street because it is snowing so hard. But would we love to discard our boots and mitts, etc. You bet we would!!

  3. The girls weren’t fans of the snow, huh? N talks about snow all the time and wishes for it, but I wonder what she’d think of the real thing. I think Texas’ mild winters have thinned my blood, too – 30s is downright cold now!

  4. Oh, we are the same way! We break out the Uggs and jackets for anything under 60 but am in sandals for much of the year! In MO last Feb I busted out the Uggs to the hear nothing but laughter and was introduced to Merrells…they actually keep your feet warm and dry. Who knew?

  5. I sure wish we’d had more snow while we were up there. It was 60 degrees the day after we got there, and everything melted and got messy.

The one thing I hate about Kentucky…we have really cold temps, but seldom get much snow to speak of. If it’s going to be cold…THEN I WANT SNOW!

  6. Ha! Wimpy wimpy girlies – all of you. Addie I can understand, but didn’t you grow up in all of that snow? :-)

  7. I’m with Kim – how quickly you all wimped out! :)

You may be California Girls now but did you all start out as sturdy Midwesterners?

  8. Sure rub it in! Tomorrow and Thursday it isn’t supposed to be above zero, and that doesn’t include the windchill. Believe me, I’d rather be in CA, too.

    Love your snow shots!

  9. I think you all look great in your snow gear! I can’t imagine going without the cold…I could for sure leave it though! Too funny that they recognize that already!

  10. Awwww. I MISS snow. I used to live in the Snowy Mountains here in Aus and skiing was my fave thing. Sure being cold is no fun, but coming in after a hard day on the slopes and peeling off your wet gear…..bliss :-)
