As Good As New

Addie is back to her own sweet self.

{Ahem.}

Well, I think she is feeling better, at the very least. Thanks for all of your well wishes. The doctor said she did have a start of a little ear infection, but we are going to wait it out a day or two before starting the antibiotics. It is always a little weird when your kids start to actually tell you what is wrong and you don’t have to make random guesses or stabs in the dark.

When she started complaining of her ear hurting and I caught her holding it a few times yesterday, I got a little paranoid. I was worried the high fever from Monday was due to an ear infection and it was raging a war on her little eardrum.

Oh well, better safe than sorry. And the good thing is we found an AMAZING ER. I kid you not. From the moment we walked into the door, to the minute the doctor walked in to take a look at her ear could not have been more than 8 minutes. It was crazy.

So even after wrestling her down, (She suddenly will not take any medicine!) nearly drowning her trying to get her to take the Motrin (with the help of two nurses, mind you!), and consequently wearing pretty much the entire dose of Motrin on my white shirt, (At least I smelled orange-y and yummy.) which then resulted in the nurses using some Tylenol suppositories (Did you know these things exist?? Do you know how they administer them?!) on her, and returning home with my exhausted little Addie – I wasn’t even gone 45 minutes, I don’t think. Clearly a new record, and no I’m not telling which ER it is. I am keeping that little secret safe, thanks.

Here are some photos I found of happier times last week at the park. I almost forgot to post them. But since I’m on my way out the door for date night, this may be what you get to look at for the weekend. And I don’t want to leave you with the vision of Tylenol suppositories. And where they go.

So here is a prettier vision. Have a good weekend, all!

Rocks…rule!

Wicked-crazy, flexible, shoeless, hillbilly baby.

She is one sweet kid – even if she does look like she is always up to something!

  1. glad you had a good ER experience. that is so rare! glad that the little one is on the mend too!!
    love the shot on the slide. :)

  2. John did the happy dance once for each child the day they were each able to tell us what hurt!!! As an engineer – life is pretty black and white – all that guessing at what might be wrong was rough on him! He was one happy man the first time we heard, “My head hurts,” or “My tummy hurts!”
    Yet another milestone!

  3. In and out of the ER that fast?! Wow, that really is a miracle. Actually *knock of wood* we’ve not yet had an ER experience with Nadia. I’m glad Miss Addie is feeling better. Oh, and the medicine struggle? Here too. But N’s always been that way.

  4. OMG Tylenol suppositories. How did she feel about THAT? Maybe she’ll take the medicine next time! :-D And is she looking a little like you in that last shot?
