A little apology…

To my sweetum girls -

I had clearly forgotten how much pain is associated with a simple earache.

Owwww…

Not that I ever told you to “buck up” or “you’ll be ok” because I kinda figured ear infections weren’t exactly a picnic – but now? I get it.

All I want to do is stand around whining and crying, too (and I probably would if it didn’t hurt so much to even talk).

Also, remind me that those gross, homeopathic earache drops that I try to foist on you to make your ear “feel better” – they just make matters worse. I still have pain, possibly more, plus I feel like I’m under water and can’t hear out of one ear, and add to that a constantly “drippy” ear. Ick.

So I’m sorry. Now I know. Not that it gives you free rein to whine and scream all night, but I promise to be a bit more understanding next time.

Love you,
Mama

  1. Oh no – you poor dear!!! Back in November I had the worst ear infection and it was so painful right before our palm springs trip. Then last week I was graced with another. From someone who has had sooo many of them – those irrigate things and stuff just are awful – antiobiotics if needed and lot’s of rest and drainnig if you can lie on that side long enough (I find a nice heating pad on a low setting helps to get the fluid out faster).

    Hugs to you.

  2. Oh dear! Hope you feel better soon.

I got a raging ear infection the month before I got pregnant with Johnny…since I wasn’t sure if I was already pregnant, no tylenol with codeine for me- just the regular stuff. I was miserable. I am convinced that I was “blessed” with that infection because both boys got lots of them as little guys and I KNOW I was a patient parent because of it. Who knew they hurt so much?!!!

    Take care!!!

  3. One year ago, almost to the day, I went to the ER at 4 AM with a massive ear ache. I was shaking uncontrollably all over…I had a dual ear infection with a blister on top. geez.
Anyhow, the doc gave me vicodine. Can you believe it? The pain was so bad that I got a narcotic. It was party time for about 30 minutes, then, I passed out. Much like my party life now……Hey, my ear didn’t hurt NO MORE….

I hope you feel better, and get the “numbing” drops, those work great.
try a warm compress on your ear and just below. Drink lots of fluids and vitamin c. If that doesn’t work, call me in the morning, I will send you a vicodine….haha-

  4. Oh you poor thing. I had one several months ago, and you’re right – it’s MISERABLE!!! Rest of, mdear, and feel better soon!

  5. SO sorry to hear the bug has now moved to you! Our doctor told us when Andy used to get ear infections that if grown-ups had to endure that pain, we would never be able to do it. Guess what you are saying is proof of that! Sure do hope things are better by now! The whole house must go down when Mommy goes down so do be well very soon!
