You don’t forget how, right?

I had a whole long, boring post all cued up about our long, not so boring week, but it bored me just thinking about it, so I’m sparing you the details. Here is the condensed version.

Went to ob/gyn. Had a little procedure. Passed out cold and did that little freaky seizure-y thing I do. Pretty traumatic on my body. Was puking sick all day Tuesday and Wednesday. In the midst of keeping girls happy, shuttling to school and finishing two projects. Finally back to normal. I think.

Much more succinct and a little more fun to read it that way, believe me.

Anyhow, the biggest news for the week is my new baby!

My Christmas present. My guess is it is a bit difficult to do a triathlon on a spin bike or an old mountain bike. So I am the proud new owner of a road bike.

I haven’t taken it out yet, just around our house and in the driveway. You’d think I’d be out on the road all rarin’ to go, right? Why haven’t I been?

I’m terrified of it.

Seriously. Look how skinny these tires are.

And the first time I get my shoes clipped into the pedals and forget to unclip when I stop….I’m so going to bust open my head or break a body part.

They say you never forget how to ride a bike, right?

We’ll see. We are going to test that out this weekend. But I do think it needs a name. Anybody got any good ideas?

  1. How cute does Addie look standing by the tree? Come on, could she be any cuter? How about Bertha? I know it doesn’t fit such a slim, sleek bike, but with a name like Bertha, it might make it feel a little “thicker” *hehehe* can’t wait to hear about your ride.

  2. Glad that you are feeling better. Benadryl works wonders for nausea, if you can keep from falling dead asleep after taking it…just in case you are still a little under the weather.

Just don’t forget your bike helmet!

  3. ooh,it wonderful! I am told that my birthday present is going to be a new bike. Just seeing your new baby is getting me all excited for when I get mine :)

  4. I know exactly how you feel. We bought the bikes last summer. I was sure I was going to kill myself (and Zoe in her bike seat behind me!!!) I continued to be nervous… but we survived.

  5. Oh Carrie! How scary for you! I wish I had known, so I could keep you in my prayers. I hope you truly are better now. Sending extra big virtual hugs!
Oooh, the bike is a beauty! We are hoping to get a couple bikes soon so we can go for family rides. Hope you have conqered your fears this weekend! I think Bertha is a fitting name. ;)

  6. Carrie, I hope you are feeling better now…how scary!

Yay, on your new bike! Looks very nice, and I’m sure you will get the hang of it in no time.

I haven’t ridden a bike since biking down Haleakula volcano in Maui and it had been YEARS before that. Talk about being afraid! Switchbacks and 40mph was a little scary.

  7. Glad you are feeling better *hugs*

My mom, yes my mom, unclipped her shoes then put her foot back on it re-clipped itself with her knowing and she tried to step off the bike, massive “ouch” on her leg. Not to scare you but, I just wanted to let you know to not put your foot back on the pedal until you are ready to ride.

A name . . . this is like naming a car, it takes careful consideration . . . How about Lance, riding Lance wouldn’t be so bad :)

  8. Cooooool bike!!!!! I love my bike although with all the hills around here I don’t ride it too often. We have to load them all into the car and find a flat place :-) Enjoy yourself!!!
