Lovely Saturday For Some Football.

I just need to blog one post about the game…and then I’m done. Non-Michigan fans feel free to skip this one, but you’ll miss some cute pics and vids of the girls. (Of course that is the real reason I need to post about today!)

————————————

Today was the first Saturday of the football season that we were able to concentrate on football (REAL football) and not anxiously watch scores from the sidelines of a soccer field. And it wasn’t one Saturday too soon either since today was the day of THE game. The one team that Michigan fans H-A-T-E came into the Big House looking for an eighth straight win against us. The last time we beat Ohio State, Emma was a mere 7 months old. Yes, it was a long time coming for Michigan fans.

In preparation for the game, Daddy taught the girls the “Oh How I HATE Ohio State” song and the first time he said it both of the girls looked at me wide-eyed and said, “Aww! Mama! Daddy said the ‘H’ word!”  Daddy reassured them that he would allow the use of the “H” word whenever referring to Ohio State. He then proceeded to tell them that if they ever thought about going to Ohio State, he would disown them. Emma laughed but later anxiously said to me, “Mama? Daddy wasn’t kidding when he said we can’t go to Ohio State, was he?”

Um…no, Em. He most certainly was not.

Addie might be a few years away from college, but she understood it all perfectly and practiced her spelling in the courtyard as well.

We moved our usual Bagel Saturday date with our friend Michigan Mike from the bagel shop to our house for today.

If you didn’t have the proper attire on…you were not allowed in the house. We realized after the first dreadful drive that the Elf was not in the appropriate colors, so we quickly fixed that.

Even poor Tiger, who is a true California cat through and through, (she has never stepped foot, er…paw, into the state of Michigan!) was our stand-by wolverine mascot for the day. Roar…

And Daddy got his workout “popcorning” Addie after every Michigan score. Em got a joint-popcorn from Mama and Daddy since she is way too big to throw around any more. Of course, I was popcorning…so no real photos of that, but she was not left out, don’t worry!

It was an incredibly fun way to spend the day and almost made up for not being in Ann Arbor to see it all in person. Well done, Blue.

  1. yay! go blue!! it was a great game.
being michigan fans living in columbus ohio, my husband and i have a difficult time. our daughter is for michigan but sadly our friends have turned our son and he roots for that red team, but we love him anyway. ;)

  2. Happy for you!! But tere is that other team in Michigan (I’m sure that isn’t a topic of conversation very often in your house) but they will be in Indianapolis this Saturday! Hope you catch that one too — just to even things out you understand.
