Crafty Tuesday

Well, as you can tell by the amount of (or rather lack of)  posts around here…we have been just limping along and trying to get through each day. I have so many projects on the list it isn’t funny, but not many are getting done. We have had company for the last few weeks, so I’m making November the month of getting stuff done! (How did it get to be November again??)

As far as craftiness this week…we have been stealing a lot of other people’s ideas. Stole this one for our Halloween treats to hand out at school. (Addie did the google-eyes for me. :-)

They were a hit, but much like the cakepops…I think the second batch is going to be much better. We learned a few things along the way.

And if you make nothing else out of pumpkin this fall…you must try this Pumpkin Roll.

It might not look as pretty as the picture in the recipe, but it got a big thumbs-up from everyone around here.

This year was the first in year I haven’t had to make any Halloween costumes. It was liberating, but a little sad too. I did fix a bunch of costumes to sell in our Costume Show at the Carnival, so I got my fill I guess.

Addison wanted to be the “fancy, sparkly, pink Batgirl.” She held up the costume at Target and asked “Can you make me this, Mama?”

I told her no, but I could buy it for $19. I can’t even buy the fabric for that price. So she was done.

Emma came home and told me that she and Audrey were going to be minions. Had to look that one up, too. Apparently they are these little creatures from the movie Despicable Me. I did not see the movie, still haven’t but Mommy Jamie and I fashioned the heads for these guys and I dyed some overalls and “voila!” – they were on their merry little way, too.

And that was Halloween around here. The girls didn’t have school, but since it was a school night our Halloween traffic was lighter than last year. Still, it was fun and I’m happy to take the spiderwebs down for another year. (Yes, MOST of those spiderwebs were decorations…)

  1. I bought costumes this year too. It was a nice change of pace. The minions are cute!! Of course do is the sparkly pink batgirl.

  2. Is Jamie the Waterboy?

I have seen bits and pieces of Despicable Me (Netflixed it thought it looked good enough to buy and then the DVD ended up missing so now I do own it but we don’t have it UGH!) and I think you would like it. Anyway, everyone’s costumes are great.

I’ve been making pumpkin rolls for years and this recipe looks even easier than mine, I might have to give this one a whirl this year. Did you use the nuts?

  3. You HAVE to see Despicable Me!!!! Hysterical. I think especially since you have girls.

Easy costumes are really awesome. Ana saw a bumblebee costume as we walked past Old Navy. She exclaimed “I WANNA BE A BEE!!!” Zoe decided if Ana was being a bee she needed to be a bee too. 10 minutes and $38 later they were fully costumed. It was quite nice. We actually haven’t had Halloween yet…. it got postponed to Friday due to snow and downed power lines and downed trees and power outages that lasted days (and are still going on). That was not too nice.

  4. That pumpkin roll looks AMAZING! I had an aunt that used to make that every year for Thanksgiving…maybe this year I will get brave enough to try and make my own!

My biggest problem with crafty tuesday is that on the weeks that I’ve made something, I don’t make time to post about it! So I either have crafts and no posts or posts with no crafts. ha! I tried to get ahead a few weeks ago by scheduling some, which I suppose is better than nothing!
