Crafty Tuesday

Got some good stuff today – I hope you all had time to get crafty and creative this past week as well.

First up, our little friend Miss P. is having a birthday this week, so I finished a pink-a-licious dress for her from one of my favorite pillowcases from the last flea market trip. I added a few little pockets for treasures because it was a little plain.

I also bought the lickety-split bag commercial pattern a few weeks ago and decided before I made any to sell or give away as gifts, (it is coming, Vic!) I should make one for myself, to…you know…test the pattern out. Well, it is a very easy pattern and I really think I will have a lot of fun making these cool bags.

They are reversible, but I didn’t get a pic of the other side. I did however get a pic of this little nymph trying to make off with my new bag, but she is awfully cute…so maybe I’ll look the other way.

Now…my friend, partner, and cohort-in-all-things-sewing, aka – Mommy Jamie, dropped off not just one – but TWO dresses – one for each of the the girls last night. Not only are they adorable, but they are environmentally conscious, too! She re-purposed two old Daddy dress shirts. Emma was thrilled to tell any and everyone today that she had a dress made out of Daddy’s shirt.

I’m not really sure why they think they need to pose like this, but super cute dresses, no?

Jamie used the pattern in the new Martha Stewart sewing book, which I must get. I have rescued a few of J.’s other dress shirts from the Goodwill pile already. And Addie has requested a Daddy shirt-dress with a twirly-ruffle at the bottom. So, we’ll be adding it to the list…

  1. The bag, oh my gosh! I’ve got to try that. Love the shirt dresses. What better way to re-purpose Daddy’s shirts? And what could be more special for little girls than wearing their Daddy close to them? :)

I’m all dry for craftiness this week. Maybe next.

  2. I can’t wait to get my bag!! The daddy shirts are a really cool idea and do look adorable.

I think I’m finally getting enough energy back that I might be able to stay awake a knit a little every night after the kids go to bed and I might be able to start contributing soon. I hope!

  3. Well, the girls and Anya are clearly in the same camp when it comes to modeling…they are showing off their dance moves LOL! Cute stuff this week, Carrie! That little dress is adorable, and I bet she loved it.

My craftiness is mostly all about me. I’ve been sewing for me a lot lately, but I really need to start on Kailan’s clothes. Of course, Anya went with me to the fabric store on Saturday and picked out some new fabrics for a dress. That will probably be her birthday dress, though, so I think I can get a pass on that one. ;)

  4. I am so glad you made one of the Lickety Split Bags. They are so gratifying. I am loving mine. I have been carrying it for 2 weeks now. It is the perfect weight and can hold a ton of stuff. The pillowcase dress is adorable. I have never seen the Martha Stewart’s version of a shirt dress. Very clever. I have some shirts tucked away too, but they keep getting pushed to the back of the line.

I have a little Earth Day craft up today. Plus my Birthday Crown Tutorial was up yesterday.

    Happy Crafty Tuesday!

  5. I LOOOOOOOVE the bag AND the daddy shirts. Those are too cool. My kingdom for a sewing machine… and, of course, a place to put it… I was crafty this week but did not get pics. Maybe next week.

  6. And she does it again. Not only do you turn out some awesome stuff – you do it week after week! while being a wife and mommy and human being. wow. I still love those pillowcase dresses but now I’m all about that bag. I have ONE favorite bag for school/library/grocery store…I need another one!! Is it sturdy enugh for toting around heavy textbooks or a big stack of library goodies? Jaime is a good partner for you too…lovin the daddy shirt dresses.
