Crafty Tuesday

I usually try to write Crafty Tuesday on Monday night to post for Tuesday morning, but, uh…last night? I had a “mommy playdate” and well…it was past my bedtime when I got home and I’m moving a little slowly this morning. But it was incredibly fun and so very needed. (Thank you so much, B!!)

So here we are. It is Tuesday and I have a few things to show, I guess a few things I can show. (Look away if you want to be surprised Meesh!)

I have been finishing capes and I think….they are done! Until we get back from the holidays. Then I have three to make that first week in January for birthday gifts. But the ones that are needed right now – they are done.

I finished Emma Grace’s finally, too. Poor thing she has only been asking for one since I did Addie’s for her birthday…in September! But Em’s cape always got put on the end of the list. I haven’t photo’d it because she has been around and is probably going to read this over my shoulder, so…we’ll get it after Christmas.

I also finished some burp rags for Mav. They seem a little big – but I backed them in terrycloth, so if nothing else they can use them as pee-pads. (Like those ones they have for puppies?) It seems that the little guy likes to “shower” the kind people who are holding him.

And, hey! I think I can put up our Christmas card now, I believe they are all delivered.
This was the front. It reads “Brown paper packages tied up with string…”

And the inside. “…wishing you all of your favorite things this Christmas season.”

I wish I could take credit for it – but a friend of mine told me about doing this one year and when she said the “brown paper packages” part I was instantly hooked. The Sound of Music is my favorite movie and I knew that I wanted to do something with that for our card. Don’t let the very simple design fool you though, they were kind of a pain to put together. But I like how they turned out. And I adore the photo taken by our lovely and very talented friend, Rose!

Okay, what about you? Can you take a few minutes to share something? I’ll be back later to peruse, right now I have to go finish three more gifts!

  1. We got the card yesterday. So creative and totally adorable!! You have been one busy lady. I have a little something up today.

  2. Everything is gorgeous… as usual.

We got the card yesterday too. So creative. Even if it is a “simple” idea…. I can not even imagine how long it took you to put them all together!

  3. Go girl! How impressive. Those capes are going to make some happy little girls and the burp rugs and veryy practical. I am busy sewing shirts for Christmas. Anyone taking bets on whether they get finished? 🙂

  4. The card was absolutely great!! I kept looking at it over and over thinking “Only Carrie would have come up with something like this.” There really is no end to your creativity — and I LOVE being on the receiving end. And you sound so calm in the middle of all that creativity!! If I would ever dare even think about MAKING a gift, it would be the end of me. See you SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. I love the color of Mad’s. Ella’s looks good too, but the purple is striking! See you SOON!!!!!!!!!!! (Sorry, I had to copy Aunt V.!)

  6. Oh my gosh, I LOVE those cards! So totally adorable, and The Sound of Music is one of my all-time fav movies too! I’m feeling bad about not doing cards this year, so I’m totally stealing that idea for next year. Oh, and is it you or Rose that I need to bug about more pics??

  7. Oh my gosh, look how FAR BEHIND I am in reading your blog (and everyone elses…)! I loved the card! It’s SO something I would do! We just watched the Sound of Music the other night and I still got all choked up.

Sorry this sickness has left me in such a non-blogging mess. Sitting at the computer was limited to 15 minutes at a time then I would get all yucky feeling.

Thanks for the shout out! Hope you’re enjoying the trip back East!
