Our Songbird Thespian.

The musical is finally over. After all of the sewing, painting of sets, sewing, rehearsals, sewing, songs continually stuck in our heads, and of course, the fretting that it was never going to “come together,” I can happily proclaim that the musical went off without a hitch. Well, it went off, and it went very well.

Em knew her part and was a superstar. I predict some serious stage time in her future.

Perhaps not singing, but she does seem to enjoy being on stage.

(Can’t say that for all of her castmates.)

  1. There must be some mistake — that darling girl in the front row cannot be Emma Grace. What happened to the “little” girl. Talk about intense! She is really feeling that part. I think you are absolutely right about her future — any stage would be happy to have her. (Not like she comes by that from anybody strange with the “hams” we already have in this family.) Tell her Congrats from us. You have to be happy that all the work is behind you but it sure looks like it was well worthwhile.

  2. She looks like she is all into that performance! Looks like you have a future drama student on your hands. :)

  3. hehe! I just did a big catch-up of all your blogging the last two weeks and it sounds like you’ve kept very busy! Our neighbor has a 3 year old and she’s doing a summer-curriculum-project with her, too. She doesn’t do school yet but does a toddler program at the daycare and it’s out for summer. Our house is much less full of chaos but we do have a few trips home planned for the summer and hopefully getting to see some stuff down in Branson and the Ozarks.

On the performance– Emma looks soo adorable up on stage! She doesn’t like the singing so much? Maybe drama?

  4. Jack-
OH she LOVES to sing…I think she may have inherited my musical ability (read: NONE) though. Miss Suzanne her choir teacher assures me that she can teach her to sing and learn pitch, etc. So we’ll see. She was right in front of the mike, and you could definitely hear her, that is for sure! :-) It was sweet. And I don’t care if she is off-key, I love to hear her sing. Heck, I don’t even know that she is off-key since um…like I said, I do not have a musical ear!

  5. She looks like she’s just belting it out. And look at that last photo, second row, little boy on the far right. I can’t help but giggle at his expression. I wonder what he was thinking!

  6. Looks like a future Sweet Adeline to me. The Director must really be good, cuz they are all focused so well on her/him. All that is except the boy to Em’s right. Looks like he’s on another page. . .or in another book!

    Love to you all
    Dad

  7. So cute. Isn’t it great when it all comes together after all the hard work? Loved the link from above too!!!! :-D
Know what you mean about lack of musical talent. The BA’s singing isn’t too bad but she learned the piano for ages and STILL has to write the letters of the bass notes down underneath each note >:-( Ah well. I guess they can’t be good at everything.

  8. I love their outfits. Emma looks like she know what she is doing. The little guy to her right looks like he isn’t so into it.

  9. How fun! That group shot is hilarious…and you’re right, I have a feeling that there are a few of those who just aren’t meant for a life on the stage…
