I have been buried in the ol&#8217; internets the last few weeks, culling ideas for Em&#8217;s party this Saturday. First craft on deck &#8211; the invitation. I found this cool &#8220;owl delivered invitation&#8221; on Pinterest and couldn&#8217;t find the source, or the original creator of the invite. I&#8217;m embarrassed to admit, I became a bit obsessed about these adorable balloons. I even googled &#8220;owl balloons&#8221; until it dawned on me. &#8220;Uh? Ohhhhh&#8230;.it is just a white balloon with the owl drawn on it with Sharpie markers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ahem. Yes. So&#8230;we got to work.<\/p>\n<p>We started with an invitation that ripped off the acceptance letter to Hogwarts printed on some tan paper.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"DSC_0002 by Voris, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/voris\/6940112124\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.staticflickr.com\/5333\/6940112124_6d37ca14ac_b.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0002\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I wanted it to look old, weathered and parchment like, so after I printed them out I tried to use some vinegar and was about to bake it when I realized that it was just smearing the ink and making me crazy. I couldn&#8217;t &#8220;parchment&#8221; the paper up first &#8211; because then it wouldn&#8217;t go through the printer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"DSC_0005 by Voris, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/voris\/7086081047\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7081\/7086081047_e7ab2b4862_b.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0005\" width=\"700\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So I crumbled them up and started to wander through the my craft bins for something that would help age the paper.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"DSC_0004 by Voris, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/voris\/7086080139\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.staticflickr.com\/5467\/7086080139_bc48fcc713_b.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0004\" width=\"700\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Score! My parents got me this distressing kit that I had forgotten about. It has a little brown chalk pad that is perfect for rubbing over the wrinkled paper and makes it look perfectly aged.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"DSC_0009 by Voris, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/voris\/6940132292\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.staticflickr.com\/5446\/6940132292_564b071ac2_b.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0009\" width=\"700\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And then I burned the edges a little bit to make them look officially old.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"DSC_0011 by Voris, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/voris\/6940010968\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7202\/6940010968_f4aa8a58c7_b.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0011\" width=\"700\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And rolled the scrolls and tied each to an owl balloon.
